Energy,Problem, in Japan
Now 85% of the world's energy demand depends on such fossil fuels as coal, petroleum, and natural gas. However, we are now entering an era when we should consider seriously the substitute energies to take over fossil fuels.Firstly, we should realize the fact that fossil fuels aren't infinite. For example petroleum will be exhausted in about forty years. Natural gas will be exhausted in about sixty years. Considering the limited fossil fuels, we have to find out substitute energies immediately.
Secondly, we must ponder the problem of the environment caused by the fossil fuels. When the fossil fuels burn, such toxic substances as CO2, NO, and SO2, which cause global warming, acid rain, and breathing disorder. Considering this fact, substitute energies are needed.
Now such substitute energies as biomass, solar energy generation, wind power generation, and geothermal power generation have been studied. However, considering the cost, it will take a certain time to make them in wide use. I think the most tangible measure is atomic power generation. There are fewer atomic power plants in Japan than in other countries out of concern over the safety, but Japan should have more atomic power plants to deal with the energy problem.
